God Is Source
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. Genesis 1:1-5, NASB
A brief introduction to God Is Source.
We at YogaFaith believe the full Bible. We do not add or subtract from it, we believe it in its entirety. We believe God created everything, above, below and everything in between the heavens and earth as stated in Genesis.
We believe He left His Holy Spirit to dwell within us to be our helper, guide and source. We believe that the postures of prayer written throughout ancient biblical scriptures [before any other literature existed] are just as powerful and relevant to our prayers and pleas today as they were all those thousands of years ago. We know that Christ created our bodies; also called the temple of the Holy Spirit in scripture, and His Holy Spirit breathed into our nostrils and gave us breath, or spirit. We believe one of the many reasons He created us, as well as all creation, is to praise and glorify Him. We use all of these techniques found throughout scriptures to worship Him, to pray, meditate, sing, magnify and honor Him, our Creator.
These creations of God that were originally created by Him and for Him, to worship Him, have been used by others to worship their carved idols, false gods or simply as a method of movement and times of stillness, silence or self-enlightenment. This is not what YogaFaith practices. We use the methods written in the Bible and center these on Christ and yoking with Him as well as uniting or yoking our breath and movement together. The word yoga itself is defined as yoke, union or unity. The practice of yoga is not a religion. However, yoga has
been used by many religious and non-religious organizations for their own purposes, that is not for us to judge. No one can judge how others worship or connect to their source. YogaFaith is the way thousands of people interpret the Word of God; to worship, pray, meditate and love the Lord with all of our heart, all of our might, all of our breath and all of our souls (see Acts 17:28, Mark 12:30, Matt. 22:37, Luke 10:27, Deut. 6:5, Deut.13:3, Deut.10:12, Col.3:23).

My prayer is that the Holy Spirit illuminates the Word of God as you dig into this study. Yes, study, chew and eat the Word, cross reference and cross reference some more. Let the Truth of God permeate every fiber of your spirit and soul. The Word is alive, living and so is God’s Spirit within you! Only the Holy Spirit can lead, guide and illuminate God’s Word to, and for you, I pray He will do just that as you spend time in His Word and all the wonderful ways that He created for us to connect to Him and one another. Let thy word be a lamp unto your feet, and a light unto your path (Psalm 119:105).
God created all. He is our source, our spirit, our energy, our very breath and His glorious light dwells within those who receive Him as their Lord and Savior.
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4
SOURCE DEFINED
Let’s begin with the definition of the word source. God, as we read in Genesis, the Creator and Source of all things, checks every box listed below for the very definition given of “source”.
noun
1. any thing or place from which something comes, arises, or is obtained; origin (See Genesis).
2. the beginning or place of origin of a stream or river (Jesus is the Living Water, see John 7:37-39, John 4:14, He is the beginning and end, see Rev. 22:13, Is.48:12).
3. a book, statement, person, etc., supplying information (God is Omniscience; all knowing, see John 16:30, John 21:17, Is.11:2).
4. the person or business making interest or dividend payments (God owns it all, see Deut.10:14, Psalm 89:11, Gen.14:22, Exod.9:29, Ps.24:1, Lev.27:30, Dan.2:20).
- a manufacturer or supplier (God is our supplier, Deut.2:7, 1 Chron.29:12, Ps.147:8, Matt.6:26, Phil.4:19, 2 Pet.1:3, Matt.6:31-33).
6. archaic; a natural spring or fountain (see above references in 2., as well as Zech.14:8-9 , John 7:38, Rev. 21:6-8, Rev.22:1-2).
verb (used with object), sourced, sourcing.
7. to give or trace the source for something/someone (See 8).
8. to find or acquire a source, especially a supplier (God created Adam, you and I to fulfill His purposes. Gen.2:4-3:25, Rom.11:9, He also allows our enemies to assist us in His plan, Ps.110:1, Lk.20:43, Acts 2:35, Heb.1:13, Is.61:7).
(Definition: Collins English Dictionary – Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition. HarperCollins Publishers. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/source (accessed: March 30, 2018).
We know our Father to be the Source of all things and He is our everything. He is the Great I am, the King of Kings. He says, “I am who I am” (Exod.3:14). “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty” (Rev.1:8), and one the Christian yogi can always lean on; “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me (Isaiah 44:6).
This is our Source, He is my Source. I cannot, and never will, speak for those who call something or someone else “source”.
GOD IS LIGHT
- We have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7
- Even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:12
- Come, descendants of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord. Isaiah 2:5
- He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him. Daniel 2:22
- Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Do you follow Jesus? He promises you will have the light of life! Absorb that into your bones. If Christ dwells in you, then you are light also.
- You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14
- The Lord is God, and He has made His light shine on us. Psalm 118:27

WHAT IS NAMASTE?
At the conclusion of almost any yoga class, also used in a simple, friendly passing, you may hear the word Namaste. Namaste is a traditional Indian greeting or gesture of respect. Typically the palms are brought together near the chest or face while bowing to one another. The meaning of this word, gesture and greeting is defined as, “the divine in me honors the divine in you”.
CAN I AS A CHRISTIAN USE NAMASTE?
Based on the truth of John 14 and my Source as a Christian, I have always translated this greeting to mean, “the light of the Holy Spirit in me honors the light of the Holy Spirit in you”. He is my Divine. I could just as easy say, “the Divine in me honors the Divine in you.” Because I’m rooted in the One True and Living God, Jesus Christ, He is Divine.
And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in me, and I in you. John 14:16-20 (Bold type mine)
If the word, gesture or greeting of Namaste doesn’t sit right with you, please omit from practicing or receiving it. This writing is to shed light on and get you digging in God’s word, it is not to convince you or have you practice things that you are not comfortable with spiritually. I always say, “Use your Jesus filter, don’t listen or believe a blog, an article, a video or anything else that man or woman creates. What does the Bible say?” Allow the Lord to reveal, through His Spirit the things He needs to speak to you. Every one of us interprets scriptures differently and as many billions of folks that are in the world, that is the number of opinions there are regarding the scriptures.
I might offer you a wonderful alternative to this greeting or class closing if you are a Christian Yoga Instructor not comfortable with Namaste. It is a word that is actually pronounced like Namaste. Jaya Masiha [Jah-mah-see] It is a traditional Nepali greeting from one Christian to another. Jaya means; Praise be to, the word is used to praise victorious movement. Masiha is defined as Messiah. Jaya Masiha; Praise be to Messiah!
HIS CREATED LIGHT, HE IS LIGHT AND DWELLS WITHIN YOU
Did you know in Heaven God’s glory will be the light? There is no need of the sun or moon to shine for the glory of God illuminates Heaven! The Lamb is it’s light! (Revelation 21:23) Sounds like a hashtag to me, #theLambisTheLight. Wow, can you even imagine?!? We serve the one and only Living God who created the Universe, everything in it, is the Source of all things and the light of the world! Wow. Okay, sorry-my hair is just getting blow dried here! Doesn’t it just blow you away?
Revelation 21:24 goes on to say;
And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its’ light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
Prior to verse 24, Revelation 21:22 says that there was no temple in Heaven for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are it’s temple. Recall with me, that Christ referred to His body as a temple (see John 2:19, 21), and that the church itself is called “the temple of God” (1 Cor. 3:16), “a holy temple”, and the “dwelling place of God” (Eph. 2:21-22).
Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and God’s Spirit lives in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16, Common English Bible (Bold type mine)
If you know me, I love, love, love The Message translation: You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you? No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred—and you, remember, are the temple.1 Corinthians 3:16-17, The Message (Bold type mine)
In Him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit. Ephesians 2:21-22, NIV (Bold type mine)
Continuing our journey of light in Revelations, 22:5 reintegrates that Heaven needs no light and needs no lamp or [even] the sun.
There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
The Message:
Never again will there be any night. No one will need lamplight or sunlight. The shining of God, the Master, is all the light anyone needs. And they will rule with him age after age after age.
No light, no lamp, this fulfills Christ’s proclamation of Himself as “the light of the world” (John 8:12, 9:5, 12:46).
Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star. For us Christ followers, this means that Jesus is the comforting light in a dark world until the dawn of His return. Many theologians speculate that God’s glory was the source of the light mentioned before the creation of the sun and moon in Genesis (see Gen. 1:3-5, 16).
The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end. Isaiah 60:19-20
The Lord will be your everlasting light!

MORE GREAT NEWS!
People will be drawn to your light! Isn’t this the point? That we would not just meet Jesus on earth and receive salvation, but that we would take others with us to Heaven. That we will always point the way to Heaven, whether using words or not, whether washing the dishes or teaching an exercise class? Everything we do, we do to honor and glorify Him and hopefully point towards Heaven.
Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to Him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to Him. Romans 12:1-2, CEV
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2, The Message
God’s light in you, will draw all men to you, and ultimately towards Christ.
Nations will come to your light, and kings will come to the brightness of your dawn. Then you will see this and rejoice, and your heart will be thrilled with joy, because the riches of the sea will be brought to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. Isaiah 60:3-5
ENERGY
A few thoughts on energy. Where does it come from? How do we receive it? Can energy be redeemed for God’s glory? I am so glad you asked!
GOD IS ENERGY
To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. Colossians 1:29
Knowing that Christ dwells within us, and His Holy Spirit guides us, we can 1000 percent conclude that He gives us life, vitality, and energy. He is our sustainer, life giver and breath gifter.
Colossians 1:29 says, “We contend with all the energy that He so powerfully works in me”. Not some energy, not weakly works in us, but powerfully and all energy. This is great news. We cannot breathe without Him, and we will not be powerful (have any strength) without Him.
And Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord has sent me to do all these things that I have done, for I have not done them on my own.” Numbers 16:28
If Moses couldn’t do it on his own, certainly we can’t either. As believers, we must rely on God for everything; breath, life, wisdom, and, yes, our energy (I know on most days this is easier said than done). He alone is our Source. God is the Creator of life; He is pure energy. Energy has a vibration, or a frequency. The further an organism is from its source, the lower its frequency and vibrations become. If we become cut off from this source, we die. The closer we are to the Source, God, the more alive we will be. I don’t want to park here, but for an incredible study, look up all that light contains. Light is composed of fundamental quantum objects called photons. A single photon, which is the smallest bit of light possible, carries the following properties: A Quantized Electromagnetic Field, Frequency, Kinetic Energy, Momentum, Period, Position, Speed, Spin, Wave Phase, Wavelength and Wave Vector. And I’m sure I’m missing something. Wow! Right?
From previous mentioned scriptures, we know God is light. Light is just one form of energy. There are light energies that we can see and others that we cannot. We can physically see light bulbs, television and all of modern day gadgets and monitors. We cannot see infrared, ultraviolet, radio and x-ray light, or ‘light energy’, but all light energy is generated by light waves. Color is a product of visible light energy. Different colors represent light waves vibrating at different speeds (frequencies), and white light contains all of the wavelengths of the visible spectrum. The brightness of any light source is determined by the amount of light energy it contains. Just imagine the glory of the Creator of the Universe and light itself! Of course we can redeem light, energy and source for God’s glory!
That is what one of our missions is here at YogaFaith. To redeem biblical principles, those things that were first found in the Bible, in the beginning, before there was time and space.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
Now here comes the fun part.
Light waves can bounce off an object; this is called reflection. Light waves can also refract; this happens when the light waves are bent as they pass through an object. I think a fun question to ask ourselves each day is, “Am I a refraction, or a reflection of His Light?”
I leave you with 2 Peter 1:3-4, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
I encourage you to memorize a few of these scriptures. Doing so will help you spread His light through this ministry, YogaFaith, or your own personal ministry. Additionally, you’ll realize that no matter what you go through, His promise is that it will never be in darkness. As you draw near to the True Source, you will increase your frequency and vibration and become truly alive! As Christian yogi’s we can vibrate on the highest of all high frequencies!
