“Just believe.” It sounds so simple, yet time after time we fail to obey this command from our Father.

In John 11:40 Jesus tells Martha to roll away the stone from the tomb where her brother Lazarus was buried four days prior. After complaining that if Jesus was there her brother would have never died in the first place. In verse 39 Martha says,”But he has already been here for four days, he is going to stink!” and Jesus replies, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see God’s glory?”

“Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see God’s glory?” Why is this so difficult at times to simply trust what the Lord tells us. He makes it so extremely easy for us! All we have to “do” is just believe!

Acts 25:35 reads:  Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household. Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in GodThe next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer, “Let those men go!” So the jailer told Paul, “The city officials have said you and Silas are free to leave. Go in peace.”

valerie believe Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed. [Luke 8:50]

Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe. [Mark 5:36]

The scriptures mentioned above all have to do with stories of death. Jesus is consistent in His miracle acts of healing and raising people from the dead. Can you imagine your brother or child, dead for a day or four days, and Jesus tells you to “just believe?”

Our earthly skin and brain cannot comprehend that all we have to do is believe to see the glory of God. But through scripture that is what God is telling us. When the Lord repeats Himself so often on a certain subject it is for us, to get His promises to penetrate in our head and heart. “Just believe”, is repeated often!

John 6:28-29; Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: to believe in the One He has sent.”

All you and I have to “do”, is believe.
